
John Bowman of Burro Canyon passed away peacefully in his sleep at Trinidad Healthcare Center on October 6, 2026. He was born on May 11, 1925, to Virginia Roybal and Clark Bowman Sr.
John dedicated his life to the family cattle ranch, which he owned and operated alongside his brother Rudy. The ranch was more than a livelihood to John; it was his passion and his way of life. He took great pride in caring for his animals, maintaining the ranch, and ensuring that everything was kept in pristine condition. His strong work ethic and dedication to the ranch were an important part of who he was.
John was a man of faith who read his Bible every day. He also enjoyed cooking and baking for his friends, sharing his love and kindness through the meals and treats he prepared for others.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Roybal and Clark Bowman Sr.; his sisters, Mary Lou, Pauline, Stella, Erma, and Liz; and his brothers, Richard, Rudy, Clark Jr. and his beloved dog, Missy.
He is survived by his special friend, Anthony Marcus, who shared of learning his strong work ethic from John. He is also survived by his special nephews, Ken and Esther Lawson, Chester Lawson, Princess Kelly of Pueblo, and Valerie Lash of Denver; and his cousin, Gilbert Bowman, who spent many years helping John on the ranch.
John will be remembered for his dedication to his family ranch, his love of animals, his unwavering work ethic, his faith, and the kindness he shared with those around him. His life and legacy will live on in the memories of all who knew and loved him.
