Heidi L. Micek
08.19.26

Heidi L. Micek, 59, passed away August 19, 2026, in Aguilar, Colorado,
following a valiant battle with cancer. She was born November 20, 1966,
in Creve Coeur, St. Louis, Missouri, John and Marilyn Liesmann
(Hartzell).
Heidi grew up in St. Louis County and graduated from Pattonville High
School in 1985, where she enjoyed Girls' Camp and summer adventures with
friends. She cherished time with extended family on their farms and
during the holidays, and grew up fishing, hiking,
and hunting with her grandfathers. She enjoyed fishing, hiking and
hunting with her grandfathers and later on with her own family. Family
meant everything to Heidi, and she held a firm testimony and deep faith
in Jesus Christ that carried her through life's
difficulties.
After high school, Heidi earned an associate degree from Ricks College, a
Bachelor of Science from Southeast Missouri State University, and a
Master of Science from Webster University. A lifelong learner, she loved
helping young people become all they could
be, and moved to Gulnare, Colorado, to teach at Aguilar Elementary and
Middle Schools, later working as a teacher and student aide in Aguilar
and then in Walsenburg.
It was in Colorado that Heidi met her sweetheart, Duane A. Micek. They
married on June 27, 1992, on the mountainside of the family ranch
overlooking the valley, beginning a marriage of 35 years. Ten years
later they were blessed with their most loved treasure,
Gracie L. Micek.
Heidi loved camping, fishing, and spending time laughing and joking with
family and friends, including Diane Maddox and Linn Baker. Known for
her big smile and contagious laugh, she was loved by many throughout the
community.
Survivors include her husband, Duane A. Micek of Aguilar, CO; daughter
Gracie L. Iager (Micek) and son-in-law Kristopher Iager of Aguilar, CO;
