Mark L. Swann

Mark Swann, lovingly known as Markeo, Marcus, Old Manny, Dad, Grandpa, and Gpa, passed away on July 15, 2026, at the age of 65.

Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Cece Swann; his children, Caroline Keenan, Rae Harris,  Amber Gray and Mark Gray, Andrew Spellman, and his brothers, Michael Swann and Michell Swann; his Aunt Ginny Chavez and her husband, Carlos Chavez; his grandchildren, Eric, Gina, Brett, Daniel, Lena, Michael, Amy, Jeff, Katelyn, Tony, Andrew, Alexa, Winter, Sage, Jagyn, and Kamran; and his great-grandchildren, Dominic, Enza, Paul, Kenzy, Kaden, Jaxen, Axel, Atreus, Lyla, Olivia, Raelynn, and Matthew. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, extended family members, and dear friends who were cherished as family.

Born in Mount Holly, New Jersey, Mark was raised in a military family and spent much of his childhood moving from place to place. He lived in Guam, Washington, New York City, and Arizona before his family settled there following his father's retirement. Those experiences helped shape the adaptability, work ethic, and loyalty that would define his life.

Mark proudly served in the United States Army Tank Division in West Germany. In his younger years, he enjoyed football and wrestling and carried that same determination throughout his life.

Mark was a skilled compressor mechanic in the oil and gas industry. Throughout his career, he earned numerous certifications and taught others in the trade. He was respected for his knowledge, strong work ethic, and willingness to share what he knew.

Throughout the years, Mark and Cece made their home in Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Colorado, following work opportunities and building a life together. Eventually, they returned to Aguilar, Colorado, where they enjoyed their retirement years surrounded by family, friends, and the community they called home.

A lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan, Mark enjoyed talking football with the other NFL fans in the family. Few conversations brought him more joy than discussing the Cowboys with his grandson Jeff, who shared his passion for the team.

Mark also loved the music of his generation. Those who knew him best could often find him sitting on the porch with music playing, either enjoying a quiet moment alone or visiting with Cece, family, friends, and neighbors. Some of his happiest moments were spent sharing stories, listening to favorite songs, and enjoying the company of those he loved.

Family was at the center of Mark's life. He never missed a birth, birthday, graduation, holiday gathering, sporting event, recital, or competition. If there was an important moment in the life of someone he loved, Mark would be there. Whether someone needed a helping hand, a repair, advice, encouragement, help moving, or simply someone to count on, he never hesitated to step in. Over the years, he taught many of the younger children and grandchildren in the family how to drive, sharing not only practical skills but confidence along the way. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Nothing brought him greater happiness than being surrounded by family.

In the days following his passing, one sentiment has been shared again and again by those who knew him: "He was so good to me." Family, friends, neighbors, and even strangers remembered Mark as someone who was always willing to help and always willing to show up.

Showing up was how Mark loved people. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the kindness he shared, and the countless lives he touched along the way.

A celebration gathering will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Catholic Church Hall in Aguilar, Colorado. Family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate the life, love, and memories of Mark Swann.
