Virginia Nunez

04.09.26

Virginia Nunez (Ginger), age 84, beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend, passed peacefully into the arms of our Lord on April 9, 2026. She faced her illness with extraordinary strength, courage, and grace, fighting her big fight until God called her home to the life he had lovingly prepared for her. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents Petra and Domingo Castillo, brothers, Manual, Ralph, Pete, Mike, Dominic, and Joe Castillo. Sisters Francis Rivas, Aurelia Gutierrez, and Ruth Silva. Husband Reuben Nunez, and special daughter Lucy Cowan, all of whom she now rejoins in heaven — whole, joyful, and surrounded by the eternal love she always believed in. She leaves behind a family who adored her deeply: son David Nunez of Trinidad, daughter Shirley Nunez Gomez (John) of Midland Texas, and Rob Cowan of Ohio, all who remained close to her heart. Virginia’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Ricardo and Christopher Nunez both of Denver, Colorado; Tynnia De La Grana (Frank) of Ponte Vedra, Florida; Chelci Gibson (Nicko) of Colorado Springs; Joshua Serna (Taylor) Pueblo West, Colorado and Zachary Cowan (Erin) of Colorado Springs. She was also blessed with eight great‑grandchildren, Jovan, Adrian, Julian, Christian, Mia, Zoe, Jaiden, Noah, and one great great granddaughter Mia, each one a bright extension of her love, her strength, and her spirit, along with numerous nephews and nieces. Virginia lived a life defined by faith, compassion, and devotion to her family and to her clients at Gingers Beauty Salon. Though we grieve her passing, we rejoice in knowing she is free from pain, reunited with her siblings, and wrapped in God’s eternal light. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Borsa’s team, Jeff, Amber, and Aesha at Mt. Rose Health Center Palliative Care and Hospice— thank you so much for the love and kindness you showed our mother during such a difficult time. The way you treated her with gentleness, respect, and genuine care meant more to us than you’ll ever know. In the middle of her sickness, your presence brought comfort and dignity. My family and I will always remember the compassion you shared. Active pallbearers: Everly Silva Jr, Anthony Gutierrez, Joshua Serna, Ricardo Nunez, Christopher Nunez, Zachary Cowan. Visitation - April 20th 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Rosary - April 21st at Holy Trinity Catholic Church beginning at 9:30am with funeral mass to follow beginning at 10:00am, graveside to follow. Our family deeply appreciates and thanks everyone who has called, sent messages, visited, or brought food during the most difficult time of our lives.
